LCF Latest News

Dear Members and Friends of Cricket in Lithuania,

Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who generously donated towards the pitch. We have raised nearly enough, so I will go ahead and order it on Monday. They say it will arrive approx Wednesday next week (April 15th). Please keep your contributions coming in so we can pay for the school sports hall.

We all know how tight money is for many people at the moment, so all I can say is thank you. I personally believe this is the best alternative for getting some proper cricket played ASAP. After all, the mat is the only one of its kind approved by the ICC (International Cricket Council – so we can play internationals on it!)

Socials

Wags, Habs, and Kids all welcome. For those not participating NO charge (More info will follow).

Kaunas Cricket Club – 1st Match vs Vilnius

Well done to Maroof and his guys for finding us! Now you know where we meet you’re all welcome and next week we’ll make sure everyone gets more of a game. Totally of 18 attendance last Friday is great and just what we need for the summer outdoors (not to far away).

Our first match of the summer will be Kaunas Medicals Vs Vilnius Layabouts (or Not Perfects). This will be arranged for May or as soon as we can.

Yes, we have a Kaunas team!

Sponsors

Darius is working hard on getting a sponsor in Not Perfect advertising agency. We will need to impress!

Sportima

We are speaking to Sportima about the use of their indoor hall through the winter – its not cheap but could be good. We would need to get some kind of netting otherwise we would quite easily damage bystanders.

And finally...

we are really going to have some selection dilemmas for the best Lithuanian 11. A fantastic problem to have, especially with more decent bowlers from Kaunas!. We could do with picking up a couple more batsmen and trying to improve ourselves a bit (or should that be ‘myself a bit’).

All looks very positive for this summer. Big slap on your own backs for that.

Alistair.
